About your new role

To lead and coordinate DE&I initiatives across the Firm as part of the ESG team and to support a consistent integration of DE&I into the firm.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders 
 
Key Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with DE&I Strand Leads and provide strategic support on DE&I goals.
  • Support the Board and Head of ESG in setting targets and provide regular updates against these targets.
  • Collaborate with Head of HR & HR Director in delivering the DE&I plan.
  • Participate in the D&EI and Steering group.
  • Help develop and maintain DE&I management system including firm wide goals which link into the firm’s ESG strategy.
  • Deliver DE&I risk and opportunities assessment and engage DE&I steering group on the subsequent action plan.
  • Deliver public disclosures on DE&I metrics as per identified frameworks in conjunction with Head of ESG & Head of HR.
  • Engage key stakeholders (internal and external) on the firm’s DE&I performance as part of wider ESG plan.
  • Deliver or partner with other providers to deliver competency enhancement and training programs on DE&I issues at all levels of the firm.

About You

 
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
 
  • Knowledge of diversity, equality and inclusion frameworks, familiarity with the UN SDGs & UK Equality Act and other relevant regulations, change management, standards like SA 8000 and disclosure frameworks like GRI, SASB, etc.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience of coaching, consulting or implementing DE&I programs (with focus on gender, LGBTQ+, race/ethnicity, culture, disability, mental health and social mobility) or human rights in a professional setup.
  • Self-starter, strong communication and engagement skills are required for this role.
  • Desirable but not essential, professional qualification in human resources (e.g. CIPD), social value work, sociology, community studies or management.
 

Program Management

  • Data/risk-based program development on DE&I issues with focus on gender, LGBTQ+, race/ethnicity, culture, disability, mental health and social mobility. Deliver a comprehensive DE&I roadmap, incorporating short-term and long-term goals and KPIs aligned with the firm's vision in conjunction with stakeholders in HR and Head of ESG.
  • Work with BD/marketing in collaboration with HR, on tenders requiring DE&I disclosures.
  • Work with DE&I strand leads to develop DE&I affinity groups, including DE&I Champions, involving senior leaders to provide guidance and support emphasising leadership development.
  • Work with Strand Leads & DE&I Champions in delivering the firms programme of events.
  • Support Early careers on Access to Law Programmes and other social mobility initiatives.
  • Training and development at all levels of the firm, including own self development and development of ED&I networks particularly in the legal sector.
  • Provide policy input and act as a critical friend to stakeholders in HR from a DE&I perspective.

Communication and engagements

  • Engage external experts as required on DE&I issues and industry best practices.
  • Represent the firm on external forums and during client engagements to disclose DE&I performance and plans, as part of wider ESG engagement plan.
  • Enhance transparency by issuing an annual DE&I report aligned with industry practices, in conjunction with HR and Head of ESG. Knowledge of GRI, ISSB/SASB or any other known frameworks is desirable.
  • Drive a culture of inclusion, respect and care with partners and team managers.
  • Regularly communicate progress and setbacks to DE&I strand leads and steering groups, ensuring their active involvement in decision-making processes.
  • Develop a comprehensive DE&I dashboard, providing real-time insights into key metrics and performance indicators.
  • Work with Strand Leads and DE&I Champs in delivering the firm wide DE&I internal story board on an annual basis.
Assurance
  • Implement an annual DE&I survey to gauge employee perceptions, identify areas for improvement, and measure progress.
  • Host an annual DE&I summit, bringing together thought leaders, industry experts, clients, and colleagues to share best practices and insights.
  • Conduct regular audits of pay practices to identify and rectify any gender or ethnicity-based pay disparities in conjunction with the Rewards Manager.
