About your new role

Our market leading Employment, Pensions and Immigration team are seeking a Legal Secretary based in our Manchester office.  The team advise employers across the UK and our clients are some of the UK's largest and best known employers. Our Manchester team is highly ranked in the Legal Directories and has ambitions to grow further. The successful candidate will provide secretarial support to Solicitors based in Manchester and London and across the wider national team as required. They would be expected to attend the Manchester office at least three days per week. 

Your main duties and responsibilities would be to assist the team with a variety of administrative tasks to include: 
 
 - Assisting Solicitors and other team members with a variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to typing 

-  Creating new clients and matters within our case management systems, ensuring compliance with Lexcel and internal procedures 

- Closing/archiving files 

- Preparing and sending invoices 

- Liaising with all relevant departments regarding finances through our finance and expenses systems 

- Liaising with clients, other parties, and Employment Tribunals 

- Photocopying, scanning and sending documents (including Court/Tribunal letters, enclosures, bundles) 

- Arranging travel and hotel accommodation and processing expenses 

- Assisting with the organisation of Seminars and Training Courses (both online and in person) 

- Assisting with diary management and ensuring relevant deadlines are adhered to 

- Complying with Weightmans’ and client policies and procedures, and working in accordance with Weightmans’ values

About You

Ideally you will have previous experience of working in a similar role and in a similar environment. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. Experience in a legal  environment is desirable.

Candidates should be able to:

  • work well within a team
  • show initiative and be self-motivated.
  • demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills (and will be expected to communicate with internal stakeholders and clients, both written and verbally)
  • prioritise tasks and workload
  • work with spreadsheets, word processing and other IT software packages.
