About your new role

Our leading International Private Wealth team is ranked amongst the best internationally and a number of our leading individuals are multiple award winners. Our team includes multi-lingual experts, who have qualified in the UK, and has global coverage from Europe and the US, to the New World, South East Asia and the Middle East.

We advise clients from across the world including Europe, Asia, the US and Australasia. Our clients are ultra-high net worth individuals including royal families, entrepreneurs, business owners, financiers and directors. We also act for international corporates, fiduciaries, trust companies and family offices.

The needs of our clients are often complex and require a wider, holistic approach and an understanding of technical and practical issues across multiple jurisdictions. We work alongside accountants, fiduciaries, wealth managers and financial advisers to deliver the very best technical support and advice for clients across international borders and traversing different tax and succession regimes.

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Associate with a minimum of 8 years PQE to join our International Private Wealth team.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage own caseload of private client work, including family wealth structuring and succession planning for high-net-worth individuals, high value/complex estate administration and International Tax Reporting, compliance and disclosure;
  • Assist other members of the team as may be required;
  • Train, supervise and develop junior team members;
  • Take an active role in business development initiatives, assisting with marketing the services of the team and networking;
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets\KPIs;
  • Ensure relevant deadlines and quality measures are adhered to;
  • Comply with relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures; and
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values.

About You

You will have previous experience  and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.

We also require you to have/be:

  • Solicitor with a minimum of 8 years equivalent experience in Private Wealth law;
  • Keen interest and experience in all aspects of Private Wealth law with exposure to a broad range of work including international tax, estate and succession planning;
  •  STEP qualified;
  • Conscientious, self-motivated, hardworking, responsive, with critical thinking abilities and excellent communication, organisation and analytical skills;
  • A high level of commercial awareness;
  • Passionate about growth, generating work opportunities both internally and externally;
  • Passionate about operational excellence generating work opportunities through great service delivery and improving the client experience;
  • A methodical, organised approach;
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines, tight timetables, targets and client protocols while maintaining high standards in terms of accuracy and quality;
  • Excellent attention to detail and concentration;
  • Excellent IT skills;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative;
  • Flexible, pro-active and team-orientated approach.
