About your new role

Our market leading Employment, Pensions and Immigration team advises employers across the UK on all aspects of employment, pensions and immigration law. Your primary role will be to handle straightforward wages, unfair dismissal and discrimination claims, as well as provision of case support to the employment team in Liverpool.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

 
  • The opportunity to run your own case load of straightforward wages, unfair dismissal and discrimination claims
  • Assisting senior fee earners with complex discrimination and whistleblowing claims
  • Assisting fee earners with various tasks including general case management, and preparation for court hearings
  • Attending client meetings and court hearings to support fee earners
  • You will be expected to be able to perform detailed analytical reviews of complex and sensitive materials and evidence
  • You will be expected to respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from client and other parties, with and without supervision
  • Achieving set financial and chargeable targets

This list is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role. As a Paralegal you will also ensure that you comply with the relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures and consistently work in accordance with our values.

 

 

About You

You will have previous experience as a Paralegal and a genuine and demonstrable interest in employment work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:
  • Previous Paralegal experience essential
  • Demonstrable interest in employment work
  • Excellent team work skills
  • Strong academics and technical knowledge
  • Excellent IT and typing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Flexible approach
