About your new role

PLEASE NOTE: This role is not on the list of occupations eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route

Accidents involving motor vehicles give rise to countless claims and legal actions, affecting every kind of business and non-commercial organisation and their insurers. The sheer volume of cases, and the constant possibility of major costs and resources being involved, can impact seriously on the operational performance of any of the parties involved.

What is needed most in this situation is a service that can help process cases with maximum speed and efficiency and achieve the most satisfactory settlements possible. Weightmans' Motor team is a market leader in this field offering a full service with dedicated teams dealing with fast track, multi track, recoveries, fraud, credit hire, indemnity issues and representation at inquests and criminal prosecutions.

We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to manage a caseload of motor cases for the recoveries team in Liverpool.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage caseload effectively and efficiently
  • Initially review liability, quantum and prospects of success before devising a strategy for continued handling;
  • Handle cases to conclusion including drafting court proceedings, witness statements, instructing Counsel and making Part 36 offers;
  • Complete client and firm MI procedures
  • Comply with client SLAs, e-manual and local claims handling requirements
  • Achieve set chargeable hours and financial targets
  • Comply with Data Protection Procedures

The above is not intended to be exhaustive and you will be expected to perform other duties and have other responsibilities that fall within the wider remit of the role. As a Paralegal you will also ensure that you comply with the relevant Weightmans and client policies and procedures, and consistently work in accordance with our values.
