About your new role

The Regulatory Department is one of the largest in the country and is recognised by clients and other lawyers as being one of the best. We advise clients across all sectors including health, public sector, corporations, transport and individuals. The breadth of regulatory work undertaken in the team encompasses motor crime, financial crime, health and safety, Inquests, transport regulatory and Public Inquiries and more.

The successful candidate will  have a passion for regulatory work, and preferably experience in this area. The candidate would also need to be able to work independently.

Main Duties

  • To work cohesively as part of a team and independently.
  • To be able to review, analyse and organise a large volume of materials to prepare for evidential hearings.
  • To ensure you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant areas of regulatory law, updates, legislation etc.
  • Assist with business development initiatives including training and networking.
  • Produce monthly and ad-hoc client MI reports.
  • Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs.
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and procedures.

 

 

About You

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.

We also require you to have/be:

  • 2-7 yrs PQE
  • A role for a dynamic, highly motivated individual seeking significant opportunity to undertake a balance of work in the fast-paced transport and regulatory sectors, within a market-leading national team.
  • Working with corporate and commercial clients in delivering high-level business continuity advice to senior decision makers.
  • Advocacy experience a benefit but not essential, the successful candidate will receive dedicated specialist training to support them to appear before Traffic Commissioners in Public Inquiries and the Magistrates’ Court.
  • Experience of regulatory advisory work is a benefit but not essential.
  • Experience in advising Operators of Goods vehicles and working within the Transport sector a benefit, but not essential.
  • Experience of undertaking corporate due diligence and internal investigations a benefit but not essential.
  • A passion for business development not essential but desirable.
