About your new role

You will be joining a long-established and highly regarded Residential Property team based in London, acting on the acquisition, disposal and refinancing of high-value residential property. The team advises a sophisticated client base, including high-net-worth individuals and international clients. We have a strong emphasis on quality, attention to detail and client care.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Residential Property Paralegal (we’re also open to considering candidates at Assistant or Executive level) to support the team across a range of residential property matters. You will work closely with experienced Partners and Associates who value initiative, reliability and teamwork, playing a key role in the smooth running and progression of residential property transactions.

Your key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support on a range of residential property matters from instruction through to completion, assisting with the progression of files and updating clients.
  • Responding promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and courts with and without supervision.
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable targets.
  • Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KIPS are adhered to.
  • Obtaining Land Registry documents, preparing protocol forms and contract packs.
  • Preparing and amending legal documents, correspondence and completion statements.
  • Handling Land Registry applications and requisitions (with guidance from the fee earner).
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns to HMRC (with guidance from fee earner).
  • Dealing with post completion formalities on leasehold assignments.
  • Setting up payment requests via the firm’s payment software for partner approval.
  • Assisting with the progression of files and updating clients and third parties.
  • Updating lender platforms LMS and LE as necessary.
  • Comply with relevant policies and procedures
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

About You

You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work. As the role is varied, we are looking for you to have a flexible approach to the work you do and be able to adapt to different tasks. We also require you to have:

  • Experience as a Residential Property Paralegal.
  • Confidence in using case management systems and legal software.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively .
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
