The Technical Analyst will be responsible for providing BAU L3 support and technical implementation across all our platforms (up to the application layer).
The role demands a hands-on technical analyst who can deliver exceptional colleague IT experiences day to day, as well as maintenance and enhancement of IT platforms across Azure, Windows servers, storage, infrastructure etc. The role requires true collaboration across teams to ensure secure, performant, and compliant technology operations.
This position reports into the Hybrid Platforms Technical Team Leader who is ultimately responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the technical team, BAU support, deployment of any changes required and managing associated project work. Your role centres on support, maintenance and enhancement of our hybrid platforms. The role holder should be an experienced analyst with strong technical knowledge and experience directly supporting colleagues or clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Operations
- Provide BAU support and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Carry out maintenance tasks as required to maintain the performance and security of our estate.
- Including;
- Hardware: Ensure the suitability, stability and performance of servers, storage, networking and databases.
- Operating Systems: Ensure operating systems are kept up to date and effectively licenced.
- Operate and support Microsoft Azure services, ensuring high availability and resilience.
- Manage Azure compute, storage, networking and platform services.
- Support migration of services from on-premises to Azure
- Monitor and optimise cost, performance and scalability.
- Middleware and APIs: Ensure we have robust middleware and API for interoperability and to support data flow and data management.
Security & Compliance
- Implement systems that enhance organisational security posture.
- Ensure compliance with legal obligations, ISO standards, and internal security policies.
Team Collaboration
- Lead and mentor junior analysts, fostering a collaborative and outcome-driven culture.
- Provide high-quality on-call support (typically one week in five).
Reporting & Documentation
- Produce operational reports and dashboards to track performance and risks.
- Maintain structured processes, technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge bases.
Role Based Access Control (RBAC) & Licencing
- Maintain effective access control and licencing across the full estate.
Back-Up & Recovery
- Ensure reliable backup operations across all systems in accordance with Weightmans’ backup policies and disaster recovery plans, in particular ensuring compliance with ISO 22301 in conjunction with our Risk and Compliance team.
- On-Call Support
- Provide high quality on call support (estimated to be one week in five).
Process & Documentation
- Maintain structured processes, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and knowledge bases to support operational excellence and compliance.
- Support project execution using Weightmans’ project management framework, ensuring delivery to time, budget, and scope. Test, Transition and Release
- Adhere to the end-to-end testing lifecycle, ensuring technical readiness and quality assurance across all delivery stages in line with our testing framework
- Coordinate the handover of technical solutions into live service, ensuring systems are ready for release and support teams are fully prepared to manage them in line with our transition framework.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion operational improvements using methodologies such as ITIL, Lean, or Six Sigma to enhance service value and reduce waste.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure systems and processes meet legal, regulatory, and data protection standards including GDPR, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials+.
