Our market-leading services combine expertise across Digital, Data, Privacy, Media & Tech, and not just in law but also incident response strategy and management, risk engineering, security controls, digital forensics, and threat intelligence.

We are expanding and therefore recruiting for a new Partner to join the group who can deliver our cyber legal services for current and prospective clients whilst strengthening our already solid presence within the market.

The successful candidate will also need to integrate and become a key member of our high-performing incident response team.

Main duties and responsibilities (a combination of all or some of the following)

  • Delivery of work across our four client-facing service pathways – Control, Rescue, Resolve and CoverGuard.
  • Strategic management and workstream coordination on major incidents
  • Leadership of individual workstreams within major incidents
  • Preparation of written advice, reports, and correspondence
  • Development and management of own caseload
  • Supervision, oversight, and development of more junior case handlers
  • Delegation of work to more junior case handlers to achieve utilisation targets
  • Advice on data commercialisation, data protection, regulatory compliance (GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and NIS regimes) and privacy issues
  • Supporting clients in implementing their own cyber security strategies and incident response planning
  • Acting as monitoring and coverage counsel for key insurer clients
  • Development and growth our cyber-focused products and services
  • Management of matters in accordance with client SLAs
  • Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and procedures
  • Achieve set financial and chargeable time targets
  • Satisfaction of all governance, compliance, and procedural requirements
  • Compliant with all MI (Management Information) procedures/data capture requirements

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor >8years PQE. As the role is varied and involves dealing with crises and major incidents, you will need to be flexible and should expect to have an unpredictable working pattern from time to time. You will also need to be adaptable to different tasks. We also require you to be:

  • Experienced in handling complex cyber security and data protection matters
  • Committed to the demands of working in crisis situations when required
  • Familiar with the UK (United Kingdom) cyber insurance market, including knowledge of its reporting arrangements, reserving philosophies, policy coverage and interpretation, and stakeholder relationships (preferred but not essential)
  • Commercially astute and entrepreneurial
  • Socially intelligent
  • Currently working, or to have recently worked, at a recognised cyber practice
  • Articulate, commercially aware, and attentive to detail
  • Able to produce quality work to a high standard whilst under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A strong team player
  • Proven at winning work, as well as building and sustaining strong client relationships
  • Good at networking and able to generate new leads and business (preferred but not essential)
