About your new role

We are seeking a full-time advocate to cover Employment Tribunal hearings, from case management preliminary hearings to multi-day full-merits hearings, both in-person and by video.

The position can be based from any one of our offices. However, it should be noted that the position will involve travel to cover hearings throughout the UK, although travel will be limited wherever it is possible to do so.

As an Employment Advocate you will manage a mixed caseload of employment work:

Primarily covering employment tribunal hearings, including:
o Multi-day discrimination, whistleblowing and detriment cases 
o Unfair dismissal and wages cases
o Contentious preliminary hearings (jurisdiction, disability, applications etc.)
o To a lesser extent, case management preliminary hearings 

• Employment law advice to a wide range of clients, including unfair dismissal, disciplinary, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination, detriment claims and equal pay
• Assist with the supervision and management members of the team with their caseloads as appropriate
• Draft and prepare documents, tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements and reports
• Draft articles and legal updates
• Assist with business development initiatives including training and networking
• Produce monthly and ad-hoc client MI reports
• Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs
• Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and procedures
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets

About You

 
 
You will have previous experience and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the above area of work.
We also require you to have/be:
  •  3 + YR Qualified Solicitor
  •   Experience of employment tribunal advocacy (including multi-day hearings)
  •   Good team work skills
  •   Attention to detail
  •   Strong technical knowledge
  •  Good communication skills
  •  Time management and organisation skills
  •  Ability to multi-task and prioritise
  •  Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets
  • Flexible approach
