Weightmans’ IT team plays a pivotal role in the firm’s innovation strategy, enabling digital transformation across departments.
The Solutions Architect will be responsible for translating business requirements into appropriate IT solutions in line with business and IT strategy, and designing end-to-end solutions, including integrations.
This role involves overseeing the architecture and design of technology solutions, leading initiatives through design, planning phases as well as ensuring the approved designs are delivered as expected (architecture governance). In addition, they will establish and own architecture/design board and the associated process and documentation. The ideal candidate will also contribute to designing our target architecture.
The role will report into the Head of Strategic Planning & Governance and will have overall accountability of solution architecture, and architectural governance, embedding best practise and frameworks to enable successful technology solutions into Weightmans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Solution Design
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with legal professionals, IT peers, Finance, Risk & Compliance, HR teams, and external vendors to deliver solutions meeting business and compliance requirements.
Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors to recommend solutions that drive competitive advantage.”
- Champion the organisation’s drive for operational excellence. Employ quality management methodologies (such as Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL) to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance service value.
Matrix Leadership
- Foster a collaborative, outcome-driven culture with a focus on technical excellence, service delivery and colleague experience.
Project Delivery
- Support project execution using Weightmans’ project management framework, ensuring solutions are delivered to architectural scope.
Risk & Compliance
- Ensure systems and processes meet legal, regulatory, and data protection standards including GDPR, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials+.
