Our Litigation National team is experienced in handling all kinds of commercial disputes. We act on behalf of large corporates, owner managed businesses, public bodies, insurers, professional practices, regulatory bodies, insolvency practitioners and private individuals. Members of all levels of qualification across the team regularly deal with complex, high profile and sensitive issues across a broad range of litigation and insolvency law, with far reaching implications. The team and many within it are recognised in both Chambers and Legal 500.
We are looking for a newly qualified solicitor / up to 2 years PQE to join the team in Glasgow. The Litigation team undertakes a broad range of substantial, challenging work, largely of a contentious nature. You will be required to support Partners and other fee earners with their caseloads of commercial disputes work, debt recovery claims and contentious and non-contentious insolvency actions. This is a chance to join a well-established and experienced team handling a wide variety of work working with all levels of fee earner and independently where appropriate.
As a Litigation Solicitor you will manage a varied caseload of commercial litigation and debt recovery / insolvency matters, including proactive management of cases with appropriate supervision. This role is based in Glasgow and there is a requirement to attend the office (i.e not a fully remote role) and be part of the team's growth and vision regionally, but sits within the Litigation National team with offices in 10 UK-wide locations.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to experienced lawyers on a broad range of dispute work
- Proactively manage a caseload of debt recovery actions, including bringing claims, obtaining and enforcing judgments, as well as defended actions
- Building your own caseload
- Draft and perform legal research, investigations, etc
- Attend conferences and client meetings and representing clients in court
- Prepare pre-formal insolvency and contingency planning advice
- Handle contested winding up/sequestration petitions on behalf of creditors
- Manage and develop client relationships
- Communicate with clients, counsel and other parties
- Involvement in business development and profile raising initiatives as well as alignment to relevant segment/sector groups
- Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
- Maintain good file management
- Ensure relevant deadlines, quality measures and KPIS are adhered to
- Comply with relevant policies and procedures
